Feeding Klang Valley More Than Meals

Hawkr's Partnership with Grace Community Services

Homemade food has always been more than fuel to us. It is comfort, dignity, and a reminder that someone cares enough to cook for you. Last Christmas, with the help of our home chefs and the team at Grace Community Services (GCS), we were able to deliver and serve homemade meals to 80 individuals from the homeless community in Klang. It was a simple effort on paper, but a deeply meaningful one for everyone involved.

We deliver more than just homemade meals

Each meal was prepared the same way our chefs cook for their own families. Warm dishes, familiar flavours, and food that felt human. There was no rush, no conveyor belt feeling, just people sitting down to eat something made with care. GCS has been doing this quiet, important work for years. They provide meals, support, and outreach to vulnerable communities across Klang and surrounding areas. We are grateful to play a small part alongside them.

Grub On, Give On

As we step into Chinese New Year and beyond, we hope to continue this partnership whenever we can. This festive season, with our 'Grub On, Give On' campaign, RM1 from every Hawkr meal plan goes directly into our charity meal fund, which will be used to support future meal distributions with GCS. We are especially excited to do this again for Chinese New Year, and to keep this going for future moments where help is needed. Giving back is not a one off campaign for us. It is something we want to build into how Hawkr grows. Alongside the campaign, we introduced Chichi, our Fire Horse mascot. The word 'Chi' means movement, which represents the act of carrying good things forward which can be seen with out Grub On, Give On initiative where we give on homemade meals to the underserved.

If you are joining our meal plan, you are not just choosing homemade food for yourself or your family. You are also helping make sure someone else gets a warm meal when they need it most.

If you are not ready for a meal plan, you can still contribute by donating directly to our meal fund. Every bit helps, and it all goes towards feeding real people in our community. This is what food looks like to us. Cooked by real home chefs, shared with intention, and passed forward whenever possible. Homemade matters more than ever

Our meal plan allows us to extend the same warmth from our home kitchens to people who need it the most. Through our partnership with GCS, the meals we deliver also help support warm plates for the homeless community. From feeding 80 individuals last Christmas to hoping to do even more this Chinese New Year and beyond, this is a reminder that something as simple as food can carry dignity, comfort, and care. Because when food is made by real people, and shared with intention, it has the power to reach far beyond the table.
